On receipt of information regarding movement of NDFB (S) militants in certain areas of the district, the subdivisional police officer (SDPO)- Gossaigaon had waited for the ultras at Habrubeel, the spokesman said.
Suspected NDFB(S) cadres on seeing the police party fired at the security men who also retaliated by firing back at them but no casualty on either side has been reported, he said.
Combing operation has been augmented in that area, the spokesman added.
