The New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC) is likely to set up 97 rain water harvesting (RWH) pits in the New Delhi area by the August end.
The pits, having the storage capacity of 1700 cubic metre of water, will be commissioned at Chankya Puri, Sarojini Nagar and Gole Market areas at a cost of Rs 320 lakh.
According to NDMC chairperson Naresh Kumar, the location for setting up of the RWH pits were decided after consultation with Central Ground Water Board.
He said that the setting up of these pits would help to ease the water scarcity problem in the NDMC area and more such arrangements would be made in the different localities of New Delhi.
