During their 15-minute meeting with the Prime Minister, the apex body of students unions of all Northeastern states also requested him not to abolish the Ministry of Development of North Eastern Region as widely reported in the region.
"The Prime Minister assured the NESO delegation that government was sincere in solving the problem of the illegal immigration in the Northeast. He also assured us that the Ministry of DONER will not be abolished," NESO advisor Samujjal Kumar Bhattacharyya said in a statement.
