An official statement said here today that Union Water Resources Ministry has approved various schemes sent by Government of Uttarakhand.
A new ghat will be constructed in Haridwar at Chandighat and the construction will be managed by central PSUs and work will start next month, it said.
A consortium of engineers from central PSUs will be formed for strengthening the embankments of Mandakini and Saraswati rivers and construction of ghats at Kedarnath, the statement said.
With regard to the assistance sought by the state government for Ardh Kumbh, it has been decided that wherever possible the same will accorded under Namami Gange programme.
A meeting was held between Union Water Resources Secretary Shashi Shekhar and Chief Secretary of Uttarakhand Rakesh Sharma on October 23 to discuss these issues.
