The newly-constituted Society for the Protection of Tribals, which works to empower and aid migrant tribals here, garnered good response at the India International Trade Fair.
SPOT, a new organisation constituted by the Government of India in collaboration with Government of NCT of Delhi, facilitates and supports Scheduled Tribes in the national capital.
The society works under the chairmanship of Principal Secretary, Department for the Welfare of SC/ST/OBC/Minorities and works to empower and aid these migrant STs, a release said.
"Fortunately, SPOT, that was placed in the stall allocated for Department for the Welfare of SC/ST/OBC/Minorities in Delhi Pavilion, made its mark among other exhibits and received an outstanding and overwhelming response from the visitors," the release said.
Stating that a large number of people flocked the stall, enquiring and showing their interest in the organisation, SPOT said it hoped to work for migrant tribals, even, from other states.
"Being a new organisation, people hardly know about SPOT but in order to fulfil its objective of empowering and aiding these migrant Scheduled Tribes, they should be aware of the organisation," it said.
The 35th IITF held at Pragati Maidan here concluded on November 27.
