The 122526/12525 Dibrugarh-Kolkata train was in addition to the daily Kamrup Express and Saraighat Express and the tri-weekly Garib Rath Express, Northeast Frontier Railway chief public relations officer S Hajong said.
The new train, covering a distance of 1531 km in 28.35 hours, is scheduled to leave Dibrugarh every Tuesday and reach Kolkata the next day, while the return train will depart from Kolkata every Wednesday and reach Dibrugarh on Thursday.
It will stop at Nagaon, Tinsukia, Simaluguri, Mariani, Bokajan, Diphu, Lumding, Hojai, Chaparmukh, Guwahati, Kamakhya, New Bongaigaon, Fakiragram (all in Assam), Dimapur (Nagaland), New Cooch Behar, New Jalpaiguri, Maldah Town, Azimganj, Katwa, Nabadwip Dham and Bandel (all in West Bengal).
The train was announced in the Railway Budget 2012-13, Hajong said.
