Prof Mishra was selected from among three candidates for the prestigious post through personal interview, a release from the Raj Bhavan here said.
He is presently working as Professor of Anthropology and Dean, School of Social Science in Central University, Hyderabad.
The appointment is for a period of three years from the date of joining or till he attains the age of 65 or until further order whichever is earlier, the release said.
