India are set to tour New Zealand in January-February after the ongoing South Africa tour.
"We are trying to invite New Zealand for our next home series in October-November," a top BCCI source told PTI.
As per the International Cricket Council's existing Future Tours Programme, West Indies were to visit India in the 2014-15 season.
But with Windies having completed a whistle-stop tour last month that also signalled Sachin Tendulkar's farewell from the game, BCCI is now mulling over inviting the Kiwis to fill in the slot.
However, with the clout BCCI has in world cricket that appears a minor hurdle to cross for the Indian board, especially as the Kiwis have some free time in the first half of December which could be utilised to play against Pakistan.
