"We will put forward our demand for formation of the next wage board soon before the Central government," general secretary of Confederation of Newspapers and News agencies Employees Organisations M S Yadav said here today.
Yadav, who is also the general secretary of Federation of PTI Employees' Union, inaugurating its three-day national executive meeting regretted that many media houses are yet to revise wages for journalists and non-journalists as per the recommendations of the Justice Majithia Wage Board, implementation of which was directed by Supreme Court in February 2014.
The inaugural session also deliberated on various issues and difficulties faced by journalists, especially those working in difficult areas of the North East and other parts of the country.
Assam Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi in a message to the Federation said the organisation is a leading force in pioneering the rights and privileges of journalists and non-journalists.
"I hope the deliberations in the meeting will contribute more to people-centric and sensible aspect of journalism," he added.
