As part of its corporate social responsibility, a state-owned lignite company today donated Rs 25 lakh to an orphanage to help it develop better infrastructure and ensure quality education for children.
Coal minister and member of Parliament from Kanpur Shriprakash Jaiswal presented the amount to the head of the orphanage Abdul Mannan, on behalf of Neyveli Lignite Corporation Limited (NLC).
The minister said that a child's upbringing is responsibility of the parents as well as society, but since the orphanage incurs expenditure of the children staying there, the state-run company decided to extend help.
