He interacted with affected families at Hatijuli-Santipur in Batachipur area under Dhekiajuli Police station and Sonajuli in Biswanath Chariali.
"Investigations are on, necessary action will be taken and those involved in the attacks would be soon booked for exemplary punishment," the NIA chief said.
He, however, refused to comment on the progress of the probe saying that it was moving on the right track and the media would be suitably briefed.
The NDFB(S) militants had killed six adivasis in Hatijuli-Santipur area under Dhekiajuli and 36 others at Sonajuli in Biswanath Chariali on December 23.
Kumar also interacted with a witness, Bhadre Hasda, who is still battling with his life after sustaining serious bullet injury in the attack.
The NIA Chief was accompanied by DIG, Northern Range, Subrajyoti Hazarika and Sonitpur Additional Deputy Commissioner Farid Ahmed along with other police and civil officials.
The NIA Chief had arrived in Guwahati yesterday and held talks with Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi, state Chief Secretary Jitesh Khosla, Director General of Police Khagen Sarmah and senior army and CRPF officials.
