Nifty ends up 82 pts on last day, yearly gain of 2.93 pc

Extending its gain for the fourth consecutive day, NSE 50-share Nifty surged by another 82 points to close at 8,185.80 on the back of persistent buying in select counters and marked yearly gain of 2.93 per cent.
Shares of FMCG, Realty, Pharma, PSU bank, Energy and Media sectors were the major gainers of the day.
The index opened higher at 8,119.65 and hovered in a range of 8,197.00 and 8,114.75 before closing at 8,185.80, showing a gain of 82.20 points or 1.01 per cent.
It has gained 277.55 points or 3.51 per cent in the last four days.
The Nifty gained by 239.45 points or 2.93 per cent during the current year.
Major gainers of the day were Auropharma 3.41 per cent, Gail India 3.21 per cent, Sun Pharma 2.49 per cent, ITC 2.39 per cent and Grasim 2.28 per cent.
However, Bajaj Auto eased by 0.73 per cent, BPCL 0.65 per cent, Tata Steel 0.28 per cent, Dr Reddy"s Lab 0.189 per cent and ONGC 0.13 per cent.
A total of 1,154 scrips advanced, 444 declined while 83 remained unchanged. Total securities that hit their price bands were 103.
Turnover in the cash segment fell to 14,902.32 cr from Rs 19,268.58 cr yesterday.
A total of 8,182.99 lakh shares changed hands in 6,443,783 trades. The market capitalisation of NSE stood at Rs 10,439,621 crores.
