The district administration today extended night curfew in troubled Kishanganj district of Bihar for another two days in the light of fresh violence yesterday triggered by rumours.
"(Night) Curfew has been extended by another two days," District Magistrate Abhishek Kumar Parashar and Superintendent of Police Rajiv Ranjan told reporters here.
Prohibitory orders under section 144 CrPC would be in place from 10 pm tonight till 6 am tomorrow and from 10 pm tomorrow till 6 am the day after, they said.
The DM and SP said that people behind spreading rumours to trigger violence have been identified and their properties would be seized as penal action.
One Moghal Hayat has been arrested for spreading rumours yesterday that resulted in fresh violence there.
Bihar's border with West Bengal was sealed yestersay to prevent any untoward incident in the town following violence in Uttar Dinajpur district of the neighbouring state.
Tension prevailed in Kishanganj since October 6 night when the chopped head of cattle was found near a shrine provoking people to hit the streets and indulge in violence.
The DM said a meeting of leading members of the two communities has been called on Tuesday for maintaining peace and harmony on the occasion of religious festivals like Diwali and Moharram.
