Nine special courts to be set up for quick disposal of cases

Nine special courts will be set up in major cities of Uttarakhand for disposal of huge backlog of criminal and civil cases in the state.
"There is a large number of pending civil and criminal cases in the state including cheque bounce cases awaiting disposal. It has been decided to set up nine special courts in major cities of the state to clear this huge backlog," Chief Secretary Alok Kumar Jain today said, adding, a directive has been issued to make available all infrastructural facilities at these courts.
Laptops, tablets, desktops and internet facilities will be made available to about 150 judicial and assistant prosecution officials at a cost of Rs two crore under a training programme meant to increase their efficiency, he added.

Apart from establishment of nine special courts, court managers will be appointed to tone up administration of different existing courts, he said.
