The company had launched the first edition of the century-old model Datsun Go ten months ago and has so far sold only 12,000 units, which is much below its target.
The seven-seater new Datsun is expected to give a tough fight to Maruti and Hyundai's entry level models.
The 1.2 litre petrol engine-powered Datsun Go + comes in four variants - D, D1, A & T and five colour options.
However, he refused to set a sales target for the new car saying this is against the company's policy.
"Even without the car being launched and price announced, people lapped up the Datsun Go + with 100 definitive bookings and over 5000 hot leads, wherein we have fixed appointments with prospective customers," Sicard said.
When asked about the localisation content in the car, which is being rolled out from its Chennai facility, Sicard said it's almost a local car with over 90 per cent of the parts sourced locally.
"It delivers on our promise of making motoring more accessible and more attractive for customers and helping them realise their dream of car ownership. The car also opens up a completely new segment of sub-4 meter compact family wagon here," he said.
