Chief Minister expressed satisfaction over the progress of Nabinagar Power Generating Company Ltd (NPGCL), Nabinagar in Aurangabad district, an official release said.
Energy minister Bijendra Prasad Yadav, Energy Department's Principal Secretary Pratyaya Amrit, NTPC project director S C Pandey, NPGCL, Nabinagar CEO M P Sinha and other senior officials of the state government were present during the review meeting.
NPGCL-a joint venture firm between NTPC and Bihar State Power (Holding) Company Ltd-is in the process of developing a 3300 MW power project (5X660 MW) near village Majhiyan and Ankorha railway station in Aurangabad.
Three units, each of 660 MW, would be set up in two phases of the project i.E. Stage-I and Stage-II.
Energy department sources said that it has been decided in-principle that three units of 660 MW in Stage-II would now be developed as 800 MW unit based on super critical technology but the formal approval from the Centre is still awaited in this regard.
Sources said the first unit of 660 MW in Stage-I of NPGCL would be synchronised by March 2017 while the other two units of 660 MW each by September 2017 and March 2018.
