No BJP wave in Haryana, Cong will win state elections: Hooda

Dismissing BJP's good show in Lok Sabha elections in Haryana as a mandate for Narendra Modi and not the party, Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda today said there was no saffron wave in the state and ruling Congress would score a hat-trick in the coming Assembly polls.
BJP won seven of the eight Lok Sabha seats it contested in the state, which has a total of 10 seats.
Rejecting speculation about preponing Assembly polls, Hooda said the polls would be held on time. The state polls are due in October.
Commenting on the parliamentary polls, in which Congress got only one seat, Hooda said, "The poll results were not in favour of BJP. It was the question of just one person (Narendra Modi). They (BJP) used the name of one person."

Hooda claimed that people of Haryana were happy with Congress government and said things would be different during the Assembly polls and "there will be Congress wave".
He said Congress would seek votes on the issues of development, good governance and inclusive growth.

When asked that a BJP leader had reportedly claimed that many Congress MLAs were in touch with BJP after the ruling party got a drubbing at the hustings, Hooda said, "If they claim our MLAs are in touch, let them show their mettle."
Asked about Birender Singh and Kumari Selja reportedly seeking his resignation on moral grounds after the poll debacle, Hooda without mentioning their names said, "These are frustrated leaders making irresponsible statements. They are making such statements as they are trying to find their lost political ground, but they are far away from the facts on ground."

Hooda said the process to analyse the reasons behind Congress' ordinary show in the parliamentary polls had started. From June 5, he would hold meetings with the party workers at district level to chalk out a strategy for the forthcoming elections, he said.
Apart from this, he would also hold meetings with district authorities to review the development works in the region, he added.
Hooda congratulated Krishan Pal Gujjar and Rao Inderjit Singh (BJP MPs from the state inducted in Union Cabinet) and expressed hope that they would work for the betterment of the state.
