The East Godavari police are yet to make a breakthrough in the alleged abduction of a 20-year-old son of a local pastor by Maoists in the district.
The ultras have not made any demand for the release of Issac, who was allegedly kidnapped by them on Saturday, police said today.
"The local political leaders are continuing their talks with Maoists for the third day today for safe release of Issac, son of local church pastor Kannaiah, who was abducted from his residence in the early hours of Saturday," Rampachodvaram Assistant Superintendent of Police Phakeerappa said.
"The Maoists have not placed any demand. Their intention behind the kidnapping was not known," he said.
On Saturday, about 20-30 Maoists came to the house of Kannaiah, on the outskirts of Lakshmipuram village in Yetapaka agency area of Rampachodavaram mandal in East Godavari, and enquired about him. As he was not in the house, the Maoists took away his son Issac to a deep forest in the area, he said.
Later, Kannaiah lodged a complaint with Yetapaka police station stating that his son was kidnapped by Maoists.
The pastor had migrated from neighbouring Chhattisgarh and was staying in the village since the last 10 years, he said.
