With no casualties reported in the last 24 hours at Kanshi Ram colony here, health department officials today claimed that the outbreak of cholera has been brought under control.
"The situation is well under control and we expect it to become normal in two to three days," said Satya Mitra, Director of Health (Communicable diseases), who today visited different hospitals of the area and inspected the treatment being provided to patients.
The CMO has also been advised to put up banners instructing people about ways to prevent cholera, he said.
"Only 30 patients are hospitalised and no one is in serious condition. While 20 patients have been hospitalised in Swarn Jayanti Hospital, five each are being treated at the District Hospital and multi-speciality Nayati Hospital," Chief Medical Officer Vivek Mishra said.
"The situation is completely under control as the number of new patients is decreasing gradually," he said, adding while the number of outdoor patients yesterday was over 90, today it has slumped to 40.
Others who were admitted to the makeshift hospital today were discharged in the evening, Mishra said.
After stray cases in Baad, Sarai Ajmabad and Aurangabad villages, no new cases have been reported so far. However, the residents in the colony have been give prophyalaxis medicine.
Chlorine tablets have also been distributed to enable the villagers to drink chlorinated water and advised to wash their hands before eating, the CMO added.
