Former Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda today said that no political meaning should be derived from his recent meeting with Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Delhi.
"It was a courtesy meeting and no political meaning should be derived from this meeting. Being in political field, we keep meeting several people," he told reporters here when asked about his meeting with the prime minister in the central hall of Parliament on the concluding day of the monsoon session recently for a brief period.
Asserting that no political meaning should be derived from the meeting, the two-time former CM said, "We know each other personally. We used to sit next to each other (as per seat arrangements in alphabetical order of states) during official meetings of Chief Ministers in Delhi when he was the Gujarat CM. I have good relations, but that is different and politics is different."
Hooda refused to comment when asked that Congress MLA from the Rai Assembly constituency in Sonepat district, Jai Tirath Dahiya has reportedly said that his meeting with the prime minister has political meaning.
"You should ask Jai Tirath about what he has said. I have said what I had to say," he said and dubbed the Congress MLA's statement as his "personal opinion".
Dahiya had said, whenever two top political leaders meet, they discuss politics as nothing is permanent in politics.
Haryana Congress president Ashok Tanwar, however, took exception to Dahiya's reported statement, saying he will take up the matter with party's senior leadership as Dahiya's statement was allegedly against the party's constitution and amounts to gross indiscipline on the part of the Congress legislator.
