"Govt should protect consumers, not crony capitalists Swamis. If Ramdev has flouted FSSAI regulations then action must be taken," CPI(M) tweeted, party politburo member Brinda Karat as saying.
Central food safety regulator FSSAI today said yoga guru Baba Ramdev-promoted FMCG venture Patanjali did not have approval for its newly-launched instant noodles, which the company has vehemently denied.
FSSAI chairperson Ashish Bahuguna said no approval or licence has been granted to Patanjali for its instant noodles.
"We have licence for pasta in central category from FSSAI. As per FSSAI, noodles come under the 'pasta' category. FSSAI has given us licence for re-labelling in the pasta category," Patanjali said in a statement.
