In the editorial section of the latest issue of its official organ 'Service', NSS also alleged that BJP leadership tried to raise "unnecessary and baseless allegations" against its General Secretary G Sukumaran Nair and suggested that the saffron party introspect whether such actions are "appropriate" for any political party.
"...The effort was to influence community members having political links and bring around the NSS leadership (towards supporting BJP)," NSS said.
It noted that the NSS leadership had refused to join as partner of a caste organisation (SNDP Yogam headed by Ezhava caste leader Vellappally Natesan), which tried to constitute a broad Hindu alliance with an aim to become a BJP ally in Kerala.
On BJP's performance in the recently held civic polls in the state after bringing various Hindu caste outfits under one umbrella in the name of Hindu unity, NSS opined that the saffron party would have got more seats had it gone alone in the elections held early this month.
NSS also criticised the statements and positions adopted by BJP state President (V Muraleedharan) for his efforts to strike a political understanding with NSS.
