This will be part of the Pradhan Mantri Bhartiya Janaushadhi Pariyojna (PMBJP), which was launched by the central government for providing quality medicines at affordable prices for all in the country.
The project is to be implemented through sale of generic medicines and allied medical products through exclusive retail outlets by style and under name Pradhan Mantri Bhartiya Jan Aushadhi Kendra spread all over the country.

NTPC will also endeavour to open as many as possible Jan Aushadhi Kendras at these 10 projects and other locations near its operating station in across India.
The term of the MoU shall be for a period of three years and is applicable for all the states. The agreement was inked on March 2, 2017.
Signing of this MoU is reiterates NTPC's commitment to take care of the society, especially the community in the neighbourhood of its business units by improving the quality of life of the people and promoting inclusive growth.
Two Jan Aushadhi Kendras (JAKs) are already operational in NTPC's Korba and Koldam hospitals.
