The OSSA, in a petition to the General Administration department said that some states already implemented the five-day a week work schedule. The latest was in the row was Andhra Pradesh, which implemented the new system of working from May, 2016.
Besides enouraging the employees to work with more dedication, the OSSA said the five-day work culture would help control pollution on roads as movement of vehicles to be less on off days. "By implementing the five-day work in a week, the govenrment can save power, petrol and diesel," they said.
This apart, the association said the employees would also be able to avoid stress level in their lives and better manage domestic pressure. If the state govenmrment implements five-day a week work, the employees would get additional 36 holidays annually.
