As a Teachers' Day tribute to A P J Abdul Kalam, the late President's office today urged citizens to take the 10-point oath that the 'missile man' used to administer to people during his life time, so as to help realise his vision of making India a developed country.
"To honour the immense love and affection that the people of India and the youth of our nation had shown to him, we call upon the students, youths, teachers and parents to take Dr Kalam's 10-point oath on the Teacher's Day," his office said in a statement.
It said, it had been receiving numerous requests to hold events in his memory on September 5 and decided that it will be appropriate to take the oath.
Kalam had died of a heart stroke on July 27 and the entire nation came together to mourn the death of the man, called as 'people's President', as he loved spending time interacting with them.
"It is not about simply taking the oath but to uphold the principles enshrined in the 10-point oath in you daily life," his office said, adding, it had made the request on behalf of the former President's family and friends.
The oaths include working and succeeding with integrity, setting a high goal, acquiring knowledge and helping others.
