One person was killed and another critically injured when the motorbike they were riding on hit an Odisha-bound truck from behind on National Highway 6 in West Bengal's Howrah district on Friday, police said.
The incident occurred at Chandrapur area under Bagnan police station limits when the duo was riding to a fair on Friday evening, an officer said.
The persons, both in their twenties, fell on the highway after hitting the bus from behind, he said.
They were taken to Bagnan rural hospital, where the rider succumbed to his injuries, the officer said, adding that the condition of the pillion rider is critical and he has been shifted to Uluberia super-speciality hospital.
The driver of the bus fled the scene after the incident leaving the vehicle behind, he added.
