The encounter took place when a team of CRPF men and district armed personnel rushed to the village following a tip-off that members of a squad led by ultra outfit' Area Commander Bhanu had assembled there at round 11 pm last night, sources said.
The security personnel were conducting raids in the village when the ultras started firing at them forcing them to retaliate in self-defense, sources said, adding hat one naxal sustained bullet injury.
Bhanu and his two aides managed to escape, the police officer said.
The encounter, which began at 11 pm last night, continued till 3 am today, sources said adding around 100 rounds of fire was exchanged.
Meanwhile, a massive search operation in the area has been launched by the security personnel led by Superintendent of Police Priyadarshi Alok.
