A car was hit by the bulker truck at around 2.30 am at the intersection point below the Rao Tula Ram flyover. The impact was so huge that the bulker truck which was carrying several tonnes of cement dragged the car around 50-70 metres ahead.
After the crash, the bulker truck climbed a divider and toppled over another car which was crushed and within seconds the car went up in flames.
The deceased was identified as Aneesh (25). He was the only occupant in the car and was a native of Maharashtra. Aneesh worked in a private company in Gurgaon and lived in Delhi, said a police official.
However, the two occupants of the other car which was hit by the bulker truck below the RTR flyover - Akash and Sulekha - survived the massive crash with minor injuries.
The errant bulker driver, abandoned the vehicle and fled the scene. He is still at large. The police have impounded the truck and they are tying to track its owner, said the officer.
Anees's charred body was pulled out after cutting a substantial part of the damaged car's body in a joint operation by Delhi Police and Delhi Fire Services.
His relatives have been informed and his body shall be sent for postmortem after they arrive, the officer added.
