NSUI protests against Pak shelling, asks Modi to break silence

National Students Union of India (NSUI) today protested against the "silence" of Prime Minister Narendra Modi in the wake of the continuous cross-border firing targeting civilian population.
Led by Neeraj Kundan, President, NSUI's J&K chapter, hundreds of activists held demonstrations at Gandhinagar belt in the winter capital, demanding Modi to break his silence and take a firm stand against Pakistan shelling.
"We question Modi why is he mute. He should break his silence and reply to the people of the country about ceasefire violations.
"Since the Modi government took over, a record number of ceasefire violations and casualties have taken place," Kundan told reporters.

Amid anti-government, anti-Modi slogans, NSUI activists held copies of memorandums written by them to Prime Minister, asking him the reason behind his silence, when many border dwellers are being killed and injured.
They raised slogans of 'Mann ki baat Nahi, Janata Ke dard ki baat suno' (Apart from matters of heart, listen to the plight of the public as well).

'Mann Ki Baat' is a monthly radio programme started by Narendra Modi, where he addresses the public about various social issues.
Kundan demanded that an effective strategy should be adopted to put pressure on Pakistan to stop indulging in ceasefire violations and targeting the civilian population in the state.

There have been 55 violations of the border ceasefire agreement by Pakistan in August and over 245 ceasefire violations during the year so far.
