Oil and Natural Gas Corporation thumped Hindustan Petroleum by nine wickets while Indian Oil prevailed over Bharat Petroleum by 30 runs to enter the title contest.
HPCL scored 165 for 6 in 20 overs with Adeeb Usmani (37 off 23 balls) and Onkar Jadhav (30 off 17) being the major contributors. Tarwar Kohli and Suhail Sharma took two wickets each for ONGC.
Powered by Praveen Kumar's blistering, unbeaten 102 off just 39 balls, inclusive of nine sixes and ten fours, ONGC easily chased down the target by making 167 for 1.
He was given good support by wicket keeper batsman and Mumbai Ranji captain Aditya Tare, who remained 52 not out off 29 balls.
In reply, BPCL were shot out for 163 in 19.2 overs. Mumbai Ranji players Abhishek Nayar (67 off 33) and Suryakumar Yadav (45 off 33) kept the hosts in the hunt for a while.
Rohan Raje and Rajesh Pawar took 2 wickets each for IOCL.
