"I believe that every child is an artist and my vision is to help create a place where children, including those from less privileged backgrounds can upload their works and show it to the world," says veteran interior designer Rajiv Mehta.
Mehta, is the brainchild behind kidgalleryone.Com, a website which showcases art made by children all over the world. The site plans to sell the works, at a uniform price of Rs 2,500 per artwork.
His architecture and interior design firm has been been involved in designing interiors of several corporate houses, institutions as well as restaurants and hotels.
"No art is ugly, art is art. I have travelled all over the country and to places all over the world. I have visited museums and art galleries but have felt that for children there is a lack of platforms which can promote their art," says the designer.
"We have an internal verification process and there are a host of categories like genres and styles where children can upload a painting," says Mehta.
Once a sizable number of artworks are collected the venture plans to start sales. There is also an idea of promoting it through a franchisee model, says Mehta.
"We want to take it as a franchisee all over the world. So somebody sitting somewhere else in the world will be able to buy a painting made by a child in some city in India," says Metha.
"Children also can see what their peers in different cities and countries are contributing," he adds.
