Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal sought to bolster the AAP government's pro-poor image by highlighting the tax-free components in the Delhi Budget presented today.
He said the AAP government has taken care of every section of the society in the Budget by not increasing tax on any item.
"It is a wonderful Budget for the poor and the middle-class people. The Delhi government has tabled a zero-tax budget. No new tax has been introduced in this budget," he said.
The Delhi Chief Minister said the AAP government has not imposed any new tax for the third consecutive year.
"Earlier, a major part of public money went into corruption, but since we have come to power, the public money is being saved due to which we are investing more in education, health and infrastructure projects," he also said.
The government has set a target of constructing 1,000 Mohalla Clinics and 109 polyclinics, Kejriwal said, adding the city dispensation has also increased minimum wages by around 37 per cent which will benefit the poor class.
After presenting the Budget, Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia said the government has prepared its annual statement keeping in mind the needs of the people.
Asked about mohalla sabhas and promised free wi-fi, Sisodia, who also holds the finance portfolio, said, "We are working on these projects. Files pertaining to the mohalla sabhas were pending with the LG office for six months due to which the project was delayed.
"We will also come out with a detailed plan on wi-fi as well," he said.
