Over 1 lakh devotees attended Bannari kundam

More than a lakh of devotees from various parts of the state and Karnataka today attended the annual 'kundam' (fire walking) festival of the famous Bannariamman temple in the district.
The devotees, including women some of them carrying their children, walked over the simmering kundam, which was made ready in the early hours.
Heavy police contingent was deployed to avert any untoward incident.
Special buses were arranged by the State Transport Corporation from various destinations to Bannari.
