Acting tough against illegal advertising in the city, the NDMC removed over 14,200 illegal banners, hoardings, religious boards and political advertisements in north Delhi in the last financial year.
Besides, 51 illegal unipoles and 17 wallwraps were removed by cutting between April 2014 and March 2015, while 37 unipoles and 8 wallwraps have been removed till date in this financial year.
The North Delhi Municipal Corporation has also sealed three buildings in the Karol Bagh Zone for hosting illegal hoardings.
"From April 1 last year to March 31, around 14,200 illegal banners, hoardings, religious boards and political advertisements were removed," North Delhi Mayor Ravinder Gupta said, adding that action against illegal advertisements will continue.
The Mayor had recently proposed its new outdoor advertisement policy under which the advertisement sites would be divided into 36 clusters. He had said that NDMC will have a "zero-tolerance approach" to achieve its goal of "illegal ads-free city."
He had said that the new outdoor outdoor clusters would be allotted through e-auction. The monitoring would also be done at the zonal level besides headquarter.
Gupta said that all zonal Deputy Commissioners are issuing sealing notices simultaneously to buildings which are displaying hoardings illegally. He said that action would continue till the north Delhi is freed of all illegal advertisements and hoardings.
Simultaneously, FIRs are also being registered against the defaulters.
Alongside proposing the new outdoor advertisement policy, the NDMC on May 21 had decided to crack the whip against illegal advertisements in its area and set a deadline of 15 days for their complete removal.
