In a written reply to a question asked by MLA Rajendra Kumar Rai, the Minister said that total 24,122 cases of murder, loot, theft, dacoity, burglary, rape, duping and chain-snatching were registered between 2015-16 and 2016-17 in the state.
Of the total, the maximum number of cases (4,083) were registered in Raipur district during this period, followed by Bilaspur (2,745), Durg (2,595), Raigarh (1,494) and Janjgir-Champa (1,142), the reply said.
During this period, 3,094 rape cases, 1,763 cases of murder, 636 cases of loot and 115 of dacoity were registered, the minister said.
