More than three lakh students from different schools in the district would undergo a health checkup under the central government's 'Rashtriya Bal Swasthya Karyakram' (RBSK).
During the programme, which will be launched soon, students diagnosed with Thalassemia and other heart-related problems will be referred to PGI and other private as well as government hospitals in the state.
"A total of three lakh and twelve thousand students will go through the checkup under Rashtriya Bal Swasthya Karyakram. Students from Anganwadi, government schools and other aided schools will be covered under this programme," Jalandhar District Magistrate Kamal Kishore Yadav told PTI today.
Students upto eighteen years of age will be covered, added Yadav.
1,17,086 students from 1,563 Anganwadi centres, 94,527 students from 440 middle schools, high schools and higher secondary schools, 73,460 students from 991 primary schools, 22,590 students from 52 government-aided schools will be covered under the programme, the DM said.
A 'Health Mobile Team' has been set up to ensure examination of overall health of the children and report about the kind of treatment they require.
Birth related health issues in students like deficiency diseases, delayed growth and disability problems will be given special attention in the course of the checkup. Along with this, any kind of heart-related ailments will be examined on a primary basis, Yadav said.
