The polling percentage in Kinnaur was higher than the overall percentage of 52 per cent inspite of rains and large number of people stranded at various places.
Polling in 16 Assembly segments of Mandi Lok Sabha seat was held on June 23, but was deferred in Kinnaur as polling parties and election material could not reach 105 out of 118 polling booths as most areas were inaccessible by roads.
"Weather remained cloudy, but people came out to vote in large numbers and about 54 per cent of total 52,345 voters exercised their franchise," he said.
Chauhan said, counting of votes would be on June 30 and alternative arrangements for decentralised counting of votes in Kinnaur segment have been made in view of adverse weather conditions.
