"During inspection by various squads, 17,250 vehicles have been checked and a sum of Rs 48,76,500 seized so far," a release from the office of Tamil Nadu Chief Electoral Officer, Sandeep Saxena, said.
In addition to the flying squads, 12 additional squads have been pressed into service to further enforce the Model Code of Conduct and authorities have also removed 837 defacements, it said.
