"I am happy when everybody is happy. Its good that the traditional art has won recognisation," she told reporters.
The 75-year-old Madhubani painter said the honour has generated energy in her to work with more dedication.
A native of Jitwarpur village of Bihar's Madhubani district, the acclaimed painter said she began painting at a tender age of 13 after her early marriage.
Bahua Devi has found rich recognition for her painting not only in the country but also in Japan, America, Germany and Spain among others.
"Whenever I get a theme from any tradition festivals, folk songs and epics I transform it into my painting on paper, board or convas," she said.
Bahua Devi would be a star attraction at Patna Book Fair starting here tomorrow where she would enthrall visitors in outlet created by Art Investment Company.
The septuagenarian woman who lost her husband 25 year back said her daughter and son are engaged with her in the painting.
"I do painting for sake of pleasure and to express my emotion and not as a commercial venture," she said adding she refused to paint designs on saris offered by many commercial organisations.
