Pak hopes things will move forward after Aug 25 meeting: Basit

Pakistan has hoped that with the upcoming foreign secretary level talks with India, the two countries will move forward in all areas as articulated by their Prime Ministers.
Addressing a congregation at the Jama Majid in the national capital last evening where he was invited for Iftar by Imam Syed Ahmed Bukhari, Pakistan High Commissioner Abdul Basit said the holy month of Ramadan was a special occasion for all Muslims as it provided a great opportunity for introspection and correction both individually and collectively.
Talking about India-Pakistan relations, he said, that Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif "was committed to normalisation of relations between the two countries on the basis of mutual respect and mutual interest".

He expressed the hope that with the foreign secretaries of the two countries meeting on August 25, "things would move forward in all areas as articulated by the two Prime Ministers in their meeting in New Delhi on 27 May 2014".
Earlier, welcoming the High Commissioner, Imam Bukhari hoped for better relations between Pakistan and India.
A Pakistan High Commission statement said that this was the first time that its High Commissioner was invited for Iftar at the Jama Masjid and also addressed the congregation.
