Pakistan's top military officers today discussed the security situation in the country during the monthly corps commanders' conference.
The meeting was held at General Headquarters in Rawalpindi and was chaired by Chief of Army Staff General Raheel Sharif.
The military said in a statement that the participants in the meeting "comprehensively reviewed internal and external security situation in the country" and discussed matters pertaining to professional interests.
The review also focused on the most effective manner of implementing the National Action Plan (NAP), prepared last month to eliminate militancy from the country.
The military leadership resolved that all federal and provincial governments and armed forces were to work together "in order to eliminate terrorism, extremism and sectarianism without any discrimination".
The conference also reviewed Operation Zarb-e-Azb in North Waziristan tribal region which has so far seen over 1,600 militants killed by the military.
The army top brass also reviewed the security situation at the Line of Control (LoC) and the border with India.
