Pakistan's Supreme Court today ordered security agencies to expedite the recovery of missing persons in the restive Balochistan province.
A two-member bench of the apex court, instructed the Frontier Corps and other intelligence agencies to submit a report over the missing person issue during the next hearing pertaining to Balochistan unrest, which was adjourned until tomorrow.
Additional Attorney General of Pakistan submitted in the court the report over missing persons.
The bench, while expressing its dissatisfaction, admitted that armed forces personnel were being killed as well, but said that it was not an excuse for picking up suspects without going through the proper channels.
He remarked that the court had expected a lot from the new government after it came to power, but had been faced by nothing but disappointment so far, the Dawn reported.
Chief Justice Iftikhar Chaudhry further said the previous government was better than the incumbent rulers, since it was able to recover at least a few of the missing persons during its tenure.
Justice Jawad S Khawaja, sitting at the bench, remarked on the continuous formations of task forces and commissions since the past one and a half year, without any visible progress.
Justice Chaudhry said no organisation had the right to unlawfully detain suspects.
Inspector General Frontier Corps Maj Gen Shahid Ijaz appeared at the hearing which took place at the Quetta Registry of the Supreme Court after being summoned by the bench, and stated that all cases would be thoroughly examined and any missing person found with the FC would be revealed.
