A village development officer of Neral Gram Panchayat in Raigad district of Maharashtra has been arrested for allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs 25,000 for extending an official favour, ACB officials said on Wednesday.
The accused, Rajendra Guddhe (44), was nabbed when he was accepting the amount from the complainant at the Panchayat office on Tuesday evening, an official release said.
The complainant had approached Guddhe for cancellation of the illegal permission granted to his neighbour for the construction of a house and a road, it said.
Guddhe has been booked under Prevention of Corruption Act.
