Panel invites suggestions on issues related to Prasar Bharati

An expert committee headed by technocrat Sam Pitroda which was appointed by the government to review the functioning of Prasar Bharati has sought suggestions from the public on issues related to the national broadcaster.
In a statement released here, the committee invited views from the public on aspects which it is reviewing. The panel's terms of reference include sustaining, strengthening and amplification of Prasar Bharati's role as a public broadcaster with a special reference to its relationship with government.
The committee is also making a review of the status of implementation of recommendations made by various committees that have undertaken the study of Prasar Bharati earlier, and suggesting a roadmap for enhancing its reach and potential.

The committee is also looking at digitisation of the archival material in the possession of Doordarshan and All India Radio, including material from the Independence movement era, and the development of enabling infrastructure and also use of new media to deliver digital content.
A statement released here by Prasar Bharati said that the committee had decided to study all relevant areas related to Prasar Bharati including the Prasar Bharati-government relationship, technology, business development, finance, human resources, content, programming, archiving, presence on new media platforms, global initiatives, regulatory mechanism, and comparison with other public service broadcasters.
The statement also invited views and suggestions from the public on areas related to the committee's terms of reference.

The statement said that all interested persons can mail their suggestion by April 14 through the online feedback form at www.Prasarbharaticommittee.In/feedback or via post to Prasar Bharati Committee Secretariat here in the capital.
