'Paper bag boy' appeals to stop use of polythene bags

The 12-year-old Jaipur boy, Abdul Muqeet, who recently got an NRI award from a leading TV news channel for promoting use of paper bags, today appealed to students to stop use of polythene bags to save environment.
Muqeet, who has also received 'Abu Dhabi Award' for his contribution in 2011, held separate sessions with students of St Xavier school and Vidhyapeeth on how to save environment by avoiding use of polythene bags.
"I have made 6,000 paper carry bags so far by using old newspapers and magazines, and distributed them free to students," Muqeet, who attended more than 130 workshops outside the country, told a press conference here.

Students should find time to make paper bags from waste newspapers and magazine to provide alternative to plastic carry bags, he said, adding,"I tried to inspire people mainly students in this direction."
Muqeet is known popularly as "paper bag boy" in environment protection field.
