Paradip Port handles 24 vessels within 24-hours

Paradip Port today said it has successfully handled movement of 24 vessels within 24 hours.
The Marine department of Paradip Port Trust (PPT) handled 9 vessels in the first shift, 7 vessels in the second and 8 in the third shift, it said in a statement.
The record was created by the port in three shifts from 8 am yesterday to 8 am today.
A total of 2,37,341 MT of cargo was handled on the same day in a significant achievement.
"This has been possible due to agile marine pilots of PPT, concerned stevedores and the cooperation extended by the traffic department," said A K Mohapatra, Deputy Conservator (I/c) and Harbour Master of the PPT.

Previous record stood at 19 vessels handled by PPT on a single day, he said.
Paradip Port is now gearing up to handle Cape size vessels regularly inside the harbour to enhance the cargo throughput as it is vying for the coveted top position in the country with a slew of other infrastructure and modernisation facilities of the port.
