As part of 'Operation Late Night Roam-Yos', which was carried out late last night in a bid to restrain youngsters and minors from roaming the streets in the Old City area, as many as 236 youths roaming without valid reasons were intercepted. Of these, 56 minors were caught riding bikes.
"Forty parents of minors were booked and challaned under relevant sections of the Motor Vehicles Act for allowing their minor children to ride bikes late nights. All of them were brought for counselling and the bikes were temporarily seized from their possession," Deputy Commissioner of Police (South Zone) V Satyanarayana said.
Initially, the Deputy Commissioner of Police had taken a decision to arrest the parents of the minors as they allowed their children to ride bikes which may endanger life of others and personal safety.
On this, the parents requested to give a chance to rectify their mistake and gave assurance to follow the instruction of the police officers, a release from Hyderabad Police said.
The DCP considered their request and warned them not to repeat the mistake. He also appealed to all the parents that parents of such traffic offenders will be dealt as per law for the acts of the minor children if they allow to ride bikes.
'Operation Late Night Roam-Yos' is a special drive launched by South Zone Police in May this year aimed at restraining youngsters and minors from roaming the streets late in the night and creating nuisance.
