The National Progressive Schools Committee (NPSC), which has 150 leading private schools under its umbrella, had given guidelines that the maximum quota for siblings category should not be more than 20 per cent and in case of alumni 5 per cent.
Some schools have given quite fair points to siblings while some have given more points to alumni than both sibling and first child, which is clear cut indirect screening, claimed Sumit Vohra, founder of admissionsnursery.Com.
"The idea is to have a child-centric admission," he said.
Fixing quota for each category in such a case would solve the problem to certain extent, he added.
"First child parents are happy that at least they have some chance and it is a welcome move.. But siblings should be given preference in KG as it is tough to send children to two different schools these days, specially for working couples. Gyan Bharti has set an example by giving first child more points than both alumni and sibling," Vohra added.
