The directions come days after two people died when a bridge collapsed at Sanvordem village.
"As a measure of public safety, in the first instance and on urgent basis all old unused bridges are required to be barricaded and access needs to the blocked with the appropriate measures," Parrikar said in a note moved to the PWD.
Status report on the measures taken needs to be submitted by May 31, 2017 to this office, says the note, a copy of which is available with PTI.
Two people were killed and several others rescued after a Portuguese-era bridge connecting Sanvordem and Curchorem villages collapsed on May 18.
The incident happened when around 50 people were standing on the dilapidated bridge to witness a rescue operation of a person who had jumped in Sanvordem river to commit suicide.
