Partial response to Ludhiana bandh called by Khalsa supporters

The Ludhiana bandh called by the supporters of Surat Singh Khalsa demanding the release of Sikh prisoners in various jails evoked partial response today and there was no report of any untoward incident.
Markets and shops in Ghumar Mandi and Chaura Bazaar areas were closed in the morning but shopkeepers opened their shops after the lunch time.
The police had made elaborate security arrangements to maintain law and order situation in the wake of Bandh call.
DCP Ludhiana Naveen Singla claimed that there was no untoward incident during the Bandh .
The call for the bandh was given by Gurpreet Singh Guri president of the Sangarsh Simiti formed by the Khalsa supporters here.
Khalsa has been on hunger strike since January 16 last demanding the release of Sikh prisoners lodged in various jails.
